Delete your Motexiz account

Delete it in the app

1. Open the Motexiz app and sign in.
2. Tap Profile, then the menu button (☰) at the top.
3. Choose Delete account. The screen lists what will be deleted and what is kept.
4. Want a copy of your data first? Tap Export my data.
5. Tap Delete account and confirm. The app signs you out and shows “Your account is deleted”.

Export my data gives you a file (JSON) with your profile, favourite clubs and competitions, followed matches, notification settings, predictions, rank history, groups, badges, poll votes, the kinds of devices registered for alerts, and reports you made. You can export without deleting.

Can't use the app? Ask by email

Email info@motexiz.com with the subject “Delete my account”, from the email address your Motexiz account signs in with. To protect your account, we act only on requests from that address, and we reply to it within 7 days.

What is deleted straight away

• Your profile: username, bio, country and avatar. Your username becomes free for someone else to use.
• Your favourite clubs and competitions.
• The matches you follow, and their alert settings.
• Your notification settings, and the push-notification registrations of your phones.
• Your badges, your group memberships and your poll votes.
• Your sign-in account with Clerk, our sign-in provider: your email address, password and social sign-in links.

If Clerk is unavailable when you delete, Motexiz tries again automatically for several hours, and if it still hasn't gone through we finish it by hand. Until then, that sign-in can't be used to open a new Motexiz account. Your Clerk account identifier is kept only until Clerk confirms the deletion.

What is kept for a limited time, and why

Your predictions, Game Points records and rank history

Up to 1 year, detached from you, then deleted

Leaderboards and group standings that other people's results depend on stay accurate. The records are no longer linked to any account or username.

Reports you made, and reports about messages you posted (with the copy of the reported message)

Up to 1 year from when the report was made, detached from your account, then deleted

So a report still means something if it is reviewed later. Reports are kept for this year whether or not an account is deleted; deleting yours doesn't extend it. A specific report is kept longer only if a legal obligation or a security investigation requires it.

Messages you already posted in a live match room

Until the room closes (about three hours after it goes quiet) or our server restarts

Match room messages are never stored in our database; they live only in the server's memory while a room is active. A copy kept with a report is handled as reports are, above.

Server and security logs (IP addresses, requests)

Usually overwritten within days; never more than 1 year

Copies in our backups

A backup is made every night and the last seven are kept; an extra copy made before a major update is kept for 30 days. Backups are used only to restore Motexiz if something goes wrong.

After those periods the information is permanently deleted. Anonymous totals that no longer relate to anyone (for example, how predictions for a match were split) may remain.

Groups you run

• If other members remain, the group passes to the member who has been in it the longest, who becomes its admin.
• If nobody else is in it, the group is closed and deleted.

Afterwards

Your old sign-in no longer works. You are welcome to create a new account, which starts empty.
