Privacy Policy
What information Motexiz processes when you use the app or motexiz.com, why we process it, who else is involved, how long it is kept, and the choices you have.
Effective date: To be confirmed: the date this policy takes effect
Draft — not final. The parts marked To be confirmed are still open and will be settled before this page is published.
1. Introduction
By creating an account, you agree to the Terms of Use and acknowledge this Privacy Policy.
Motexiz is a football app and website: live scores, fixtures and results for the clubs and competitions you follow, football news, match predictions with Game Points, groups, polls and live match rooms.
This policy explains what information Motexiz processes when you use the Motexiz mobile app or the website at motexiz.com, why we process it, who else is involved, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. It is written to describe what Motexiz actually does today. If that changes, this policy will change first (see section 30).
2. Who operates Motexiz
Motexiz is operated by To be confirmed: the legal name of the person or registered business that operates Motexiz, and its address, Ghana (“Motexiz”, “we”, “us”).
For anything about your privacy, contact info@motexiz.com.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, financial information or health information, and we do not use advertising identifiers.
4. Account information
To create an account you give an email address and a password, or you sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with Google, Apple or TikTok. That information is collected and stored by Clerk (section 18), not by Motexiz. When you sign in with another provider, that provider shares basic account details with Clerk under its own terms.
Clerk sends one-time codes by email: to confirm a new email address, to reset a password, and when you sign in with a password on a browser or device it has not seen before, to check that it really is you.
Motexiz receives from Clerk an account identifier (a code such as user_…) and a session identifier. Our servers use the identifier to know which Motexiz data is yours. Motexiz’s servers do not receive your password, and Motexiz does not store your email address in its own database.
5. Authentication information
When you are signed in, Clerk issues short-lived session tokens. The app keeps your session in the phone’s secure storage; the website keeps it in cookies set by Clerk (see Cookies and similar technologies). Every request to our servers carries a token, which our servers check with Clerk’s public keys to confirm who is asking. We do not keep a separate copy of your session.
6. Profile information
- Username — you choose it. It is public: it appears on leaderboards, group boards, public player profiles, match rooms and fan search.
- Avatar — you choose a style, and Motexiz generates a random picture for it (section 22). Your avatar is shown wherever your username is.
- Country — optional. If you add it, it is shown next to your username on leaderboards and group boards and decides which country leaderboard you appear on.
- Bio — optional; currently shown only on your own profile.
Your public player profile shows your username, avatar, Game Points, badges and the number of clubs and competitions you follow (not which ones).
7. Football preferences
Your favourite clubs and competitions, and the matches you follow. Before you create an account, the picks you make during setup are kept only on your phone or in your browser; when you sign in they are saved to your account. Following a match ends automatically a while after it finishes.
We use these to personalise Home, Matches, news and alerts.
8. Predictions and Game Points
For each prediction: the match, your pick and when you made it. From these, and from the match results, we calculate your Game Points (GP), your rank, your accuracy (the share of your decided predictions that were correct) and your season history, and we keep a daily snapshot of your rank to show how it moves.
Your Game Points, rank and accuracy are public on leaderboards and group boards, next to your username. Individual predictions are not shown to other users. See the Prediction & Game Points Rules.
9. Groups and match rooms
Groups. If you create a group we store its name, description, picture and invite code. For every member we store their role and when they joined. Members of a group can see each other’s username, avatar, country (if set), Game Points, accuracy and number of decided predictions in that group.
Match rooms. Messages you post in a live match room are not stored in our database. They are held in our server’s memory while the room is active, shown to people in the room with your username and avatar, and disappear when the room has been quiet for three hours or when our server restarts. Before a message is posted, an automatic filter checks it for abusive language, threats, hate, personal contact details and links.
Reports. If someone reports a message, we keep a copy of that message with the match, the reason, the author’s account and the reporter’s account, so it can be reviewed (see the Community Guidelines). This applies both to reports you make and to reports about messages you posted. A report is kept for up to one year from when it is made, whether or not the accounts involved still exist (see section 23).
10. Poll participation
When you vote in a match poll we store your vote (home, draw or away) for that match. Other people only ever see the totals.
11. Notification settings
Your alert switches — for your account and for individual matches (line-ups, kick-off, goals, red cards, second half, full time) — are stored with your account so they apply on every device you use.
12. Push notifications and device information
Motexiz does not send push notifications yet. Match alerts appear inside the app and on the website while you have them open. We will update this policy before push notifications are switched on.
When they are, and you allow them on your phone, we will store a push token (an address for your phone issued by the notification service) and the platform (Android or iOS), linked to your account, so match alerts can reach you. The token will be removed when you sign out on that phone, or when you delete your account. Push notifications are expected to be delivered through Expo’s push notification service and, from there, through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) or Apple Push Notification service (iOS). A notification says what happened in the match; it does not contain your personal details.
13. Technical information
When the app or website talks to our servers, each request carries technical details: your IP address, the address requested (which can include what you searched for, the match or page you opened, and your time-zone setting), the time, and whether it succeeded. We use these to run the service, keep it secure and fix problems.
On your phone the app also stores: your signed-in session (secure storage), your first-time setup picks and how far you got, whether you skipped setup, a note that an account has signed in on this phone (so it opens Sign in rather than setup next time), a group invite code you opened before signing in (until it is used), and a copy of the adverts shown on the Home screen. What the website keeps in your browser is listed in the Cookie Policy.
Error reports. When something goes wrong on our servers or on the website, an error report goes to our own error tracker, which runs on our servers (it is not a third-party service). A report says what went wrong and where in our code, the page address (without anything after a “?”, such as search terms) and the type of browser. It never contains your account, email address, cookies or sign-in session: these are removed before the report is sent. Error reports are kept for 30 days.
14. IP addresses and security
We use IP addresses to protect Motexiz from abuse: requests are rate-limited per IP address and per account, and an address that repeatedly asks for things that do not exist is blocked for a short time. These counters are kept only in memory and reset quickly. IP addresses also appear in our server logs (section 23).
15. Search
What you type into search (clubs, competitions, matches, players, or fans by username) is sent to our servers to find results. We do not keep a search history on your account; searches can appear in server logs like any other request.
16. How we use information
- To provide Motexiz: your account, scores, fixtures, news, predictions, Game Points, groups, polls, match rooms and alerts.
- To personalise it around the clubs, competitions and matches you choose.
- To run leaderboards and group competitions.
- To keep Motexiz secure: rate limiting, preventing abuse, investigating reports and keeping match rooms safe.
- To answer you when you contact us.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and Motexiz does not currently use any analytics or tracking service.
Adverts. Motexiz shows adverts, but they are not chosen for you: everyone sees the same adverts in the same places. We count only how many times each advert is shown and tapped, per day — not who saw or tapped it.
17. Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run Motexiz. Each receives only what it needs for its part of the service.
18. Clerk
Clerk, Inc. runs sign-in and account management: it stores your email address, your password (Motexiz never sees it) and social sign-in details, and it issues session tokens. When you delete your Motexiz account we ask Clerk to delete your Clerk account too (see Help, “How do I delete my account?”). Clerk says it may store and process information anywhere in the world, including the United States. Clerk’s privacy policy: clerk.com/legal/privacy.
19. Contabo
Contabo GmbH provides the servers that run Motexiz’s API, database and background services, including our error tracker. Everything Motexiz stores about you is stored on these servers, in a data centre in the European Union.
20. API-Football / API-SPORTS
Match data — fixtures, scores, events, line-ups, standings, player and team information and statistics — comes from API-FOOTBALL (API-SPORTS). Our servers request this data; we do not send them any information about you. Club and competition logos are loaded by your device directly from API-SPORTS’ image servers, which therefore see your IP address, as any website you load images from does.
21. ESPN and other news sources
Football news headlines, summaries and images come from third-party publishers, currently ESPN. Our servers collect the headlines; we do not send the publisher any information about you. Article images are loaded by your device directly from the publisher’s servers, and when you open an article you go to the publisher’s own site or app, where their privacy policy applies.
22. Other third-party content
- Avatars are generated by DiceBear, run by Florian Körner in Germany and hosted in Germany: your device loads your avatar picture from DiceBear’s servers using the random code for your avatar (not your name or account), which means DiceBear sees your IP address. DiceBear’s privacy policy: dicebear.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Website and domain: the website runs on Motexiz’s own servers at Contabo (section 19). The motexiz.com domain is registered, and its name records are managed, with Hostinger.
23. How long we keep information
- Account and profile information, preferences, follows, notification settings, badges, group memberships, poll votes, push tokens
- Until you delete your account (a push token also goes when you sign out on that phone)
- Predictions, Game Points records and rank history
- While your account exists; after deletion, kept detached from you (not linked to any account) for up to one year, then permanently deleted
- Reports you made, and reports about messages you posted (including the copy of the reported message)
- Up to one year from when the report is made, whether or not the accounts involved still exist, then permanently deleted. If your account is deleted within that year, the report is kept detached from your account for the rest of it. A specific report is kept longer only if a legal obligation or a security investigation requires it
- Match room messages
- Not stored in our database; gone from server memory within about three hours of the room going quiet, or on a server restart. If you delete your account while a room is still active, messages you already posted there may stay visible until the room closes or the server restarts
- Server and security logs (IP addresses, requests)
- Overwritten as the log files fill up, usually within days; never more than one year
- Error reports
- 30 days
- Rate-limiting counters
- Minutes, in memory only
- Your Clerk account identifier, after you delete your account
- Only until Clerk confirms that your Clerk account is deleted
- Your data export
- Not kept by us; it is created on request and handed to you
After those periods, the information is permanently deleted. Anonymous, aggregate statistics that no longer relate to any person (for example, how predictions for a match were split, or how many times an advert was shown) may be kept.
Backups. Every night a backup copy of our database is made, and the last seven are kept. Before a major update we also make an extra copy, kept for 30 days. So information you delete can stay in a backup for up to 30 days before it is gone from there too. Backups are kept securely by Motexiz and used only to restore Motexiz if something goes wrong.
24. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app: Profile → menu → Delete account. The screen lists what is deleted, what is kept and for how long, and lets you export a copy of your data first. Help explains it too: How do I delete my account?
25. Getting a copy of your data
In the app, Profile → menu → Delete account → Export my data gives you a copy of your Motexiz data in a machine-readable format (JSON), whether or not you go on to delete your account. It includes your profile, favourites, followed matches, notification settings, predictions, rank history, groups, badges, poll votes, the kinds of devices registered for alerts, and reports you made. You can also ask us at info@motexiz.com.
Requests by email. To protect your account, we act on an emailed request about your data only when it comes from the email address your Motexiz account signs in with, and we reply to that address. We may also point you to the app’s own Export and Delete buttons, which are the quickest way.
26. Security
Connections between the app or website and our servers are encrypted (HTTPS). Access to personal information is limited to the systems and people that need it, our database enforces per-account access rules, and requests are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you and the authorities where the law requires it.
27. International transfers
Motexiz is operated from Ghana, and the services it uses are in other countries: our own servers (Contabo) are in the European Union; Clerk may process information anywhere in the world, including the United States; DiceBear is in Germany; and API-SPORTS and the news publishers are outside Ghana too. When information moves across borders we rely on each provider’s own safeguards.
28. Children
Motexiz is for people aged 16 and over. By creating an account or using Motexiz, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old. If you are under 16, please do not use Motexiz. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 16 is using Motexiz, contact info@motexiz.com.
29. Your rights
You can:
- See your data — export it in the app, or ask us.
- Correct it — edit your profile in the app or on the website at any time.
- Delete it — delete your account in the app, or ask us.
- Object or ask questions about how we use your information.
- Complain to a data protection authority — in Ghana, the Data Protection Commission, set up under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843): dataprotection.org.gh.
Depending on where you live, you may have other rights too. Contact us at info@motexiz.com; we will reply within 7 days.
30. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for important changes we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
